Try Yoga

Maintaining flexible muscles is another important component of your workout at age 40 and over.    Before stretching muscles should be warmed up with light cardiovascular exercises, such as walking or cycling.     Hold your body still through each stretch 20 to 30 seconds and repeat each movement two to three times.     This training can be done daily but should be done twice a week at a minimum.

Watch Your Diet

Being Kind Keeps You Healthy

When was the last time you did a kind deed or give someone a compliment?
Think back, how did it make you feel afterwards?
Studies have shown that acts of kindness can improve your health and delay the aging process.     Don’t believe me?    Here’s some proof for you.

Reducing Chronic Diseases To Keep Us Healthy

According to medical experts, acts of kindness are linked to the vagus nerve, which protects the heart and lowers blood pressure by releasing a hormone called Oxytocin.     This in turn releases a chemical called nitric acid, causing your blood vessels to dilate, reducing your blood pressure.   Even cardiologists claim that kindness steady’s the heart rate and lessens risks of trauma.

Improves Happiness

Giving of your time freely can also generate a happy feeling when you see the reaction from the people you’ve helped, like strangers even animals.    Surprisingly, they in turn develop the kindness buzz creating friendships that last.     Studies have also shown that generally, you feel better about yourself and would naturally want to share that feeling with others.

Making Life Easier

Years ago someone told me “Don’t frustrate yourself about situations you have no control over”.      In retrospect they’re right.     Can we control the traffic, the weather, or someone’s attitude?      When we get angry about things we can’t control it can increase our blood pressure, raise our stress levels and add years to our appearance, scientists have found.      I know it may sound hard to control our temper at times, since venting can make us feel better sometimes.    But, we all need to practice a good amount of self-control.

So with all these benefits to gain from being kind, who wouldn’t want to?    Kindness leads to happiness and happiness leads to improved health.   TRY IT TODAY! an share some of your stories with us.

Detoxing Your Body The Healthy Way

It can be argued that detoxifying your body is a myth, while others say it’s a waste if time.   In truth and in fact the notion of a simple detox plan should be integrated into a healthy lifestyle to give you the results you crave.    Medical experts claim that detoxifying the body is another way of cleansing the body, which can rejuvenate, renew and recharge your body’s immune system.      There are many ways in which you can choose to participate in this regime, but, which ever method you decide upon you must be aware of the benefits of detoxifying your body.    Here are some of the reasons why.

 Benefits of Detoxification

1.         Boosts Energy

Cutting out the things that caused you to detox in the first place such as caffeine, sugar, trans fat and saturated fats is the first step.   By replacing them with fresh fruits and vegetables and drinking a lot of water, you can expect a natural energy boost that will keep you going all day long further lowering your stress level.

2.         Loss in Weight

An overall change in your eating habits is what really causes the weight loss.     Therefore, to maintain these results in the long term you need to rid yourself of unhealthy eating habits and make a commitment to exercise regularly.   Use your newfound energy to be more active overall.

3.         Gets Rid of Excess Waste

The human body cleanses itself daily by way of the liver, kidneys and colon.    However, the detox program should be designed to stimulate the body to purge itself.    This allows the liver, kidneys and colon to do their thing in getting the unwanted toxins out of our body, since a backed up of the colon can cause these toxins to be reintroduced into the body.   Also remember to drink lots of water the stay hydrated.

4.         Stronger Immune System

Your body organs will function, as they should which builds your body’s immune system and enables you to absorb nutrients better and eating the right foods can also give your immune system the right boost it needs.   Medical experts further states that including light exercises in the program helps to circulate lymph fluid throughout the body while strengthening the immune system in the process.

5. Improved Skin and Anti-Aging Benefits

One way to improve skin health in your detoxing efforts is to take a sauna to help the body sweat out the toxins.     You will see clearer, smoother, younger-looking skin at the end of your detox plan.    Be warned though, although detoxing has been known to help with acne, the condition may worsen before it gets better since the toxins are being released.    However, this is part of the process and it is a sign that you are on the right track.

The overall benefits of a healthy body detox are priceless, which also includes breathing easier, healthier hair, clearer thinking, having an overall lighter feeling, the list can go on and on.    Since we are living in an increasingly toxic world experts recommend doing a detox once or twice a year in hopes of living a longer, healthier, younger looking life.
